When Mom is not around…
This post is from my eldest son, Shalom Israel. After spending an entire day at work, I was greeted by tantalizing aromas of deliciousness. The boys tried their hand at cooking and Shalom wrote all about it.
Over to Shalom:
“Today, when my dad, brother, and I were in the house by ourselves, we decided to cook some sort of meat or seafood curry. So off we went, exploring the freezer, when my eyes loomed over to the shrimp and scallops. Taking the packets, we prepared a plate of base ingredients.
Grabbing a little pot, we prepared the dish. In went plenty of oil, serrano peppers, onions, and some other spices from our spice tray. I did the mixing, my brother did the adding, and my dad did the slicing. Next went tomatoes from our garden, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, chilli flakes, a little bit of water, and salt.
We decided to make mushroom curry for my mom too, so we took out some of our curry into another pan, sliced and threw in mushrooms, and let that cook. Into the seafood curry went shrimp and scallops, and we let that cook too.
We all (except my mom, as she was at work) started eating, and the flavor was phenomenal. It had a sweet taste of tomatoes, and a nice spicy aftertaste. It took me to the hills and oceans.
The two ways I think are most powerful to go to other places without leaving your house are books and food. And today, like my brother Nathaniel said, our food took us to the beach!
