Cold Coffee and Kababs

By Mini Kommu

There are somethings that evoke a sense of satisfaction even when you just think about them. Things, that produce paramount effects, with minimal effort. Cold coffee and Kababs belong to the category of those things.

There is a Starbucks at a stone’s throw from Shalom’s Piano Studio. Walking over and grabbing a Caramel Frappe is a untold tradition of my boys. The beam in their eyes on occasions when I suggest we go to Starbucks melts my heart. Thanks to the lockdown, we have hardly been going out and so, I ventured upon making their luxury treat – Caramel Frappuccino at home. Good news – they love it. Not so good news – it’s no longer a ‘luxury’ treat.

Kababs

Some habits seldom change and accompanying a spicy, ‘pick me easy’ kind of food with a cold drink is one such habit. And so, there we go. A quick ‘throw on the grill and count sheep’ kabab was what we chose as the perfect accompaniment. Meat that was marinated to make the quintessential weekend Biryani was repurposed. And we have no regrets.
